winter weather hair tips for curls

howdy, y'all! just want to give a few winter hair tips for curls and other dry hair types.

- try not to shampoo everyday. y'all know i don't use shampoo and feel that it's overrated. shampoo as needed with a mild or moisturizing shampoo (like giovanni), a cleansing conditioner (with astringents like tea tree, rosemary, mint), or use a baking soda paste, on your scalp only.
*if you have flakes in your hair, chances are it is not dandruff, but dry scalp. be nice to your head and don't strip all your oils. also, sometimes an oily scalp is due to your sebaceous (oil) glands trying to keep your scalp from drying out from overshampooing.

- even though it's chilly out, don't use hot water on your hair. but if you can't stop yourself, give your hair a cooler final rinse.

- deep condition at least once a month (giovanni treatment for critically damaged hair). if your hair needs it once a week, then listen to it. ;-)

- use leave-in conditioner whenever you wet your hair. dry hair types tend to always be dry and usually do well with more and more conditioning. you will be amazed at how well it can reduce frizz. (i love giovanni's direct leave-in conditioner)
